Math Teachers- The Only Ones That Count!

To say we have some real master minds that have graduated from Lafayette High School is saying it lightly. Since I have been doing this “Did You Know?” article for the paper it has been impressive to see what the past students have been doing. This week’s article is on Math teachers. Stephanie (Knott) Pogalz, Kurt Remick, Zach Page, Taylor Kenfield and Alexis (Hanson) Hruby have all made their careers as math teachers. Steve Philion (class of 1970) and head coach of the Rebel Boys Basketball team was also a math teacher for many years in Clearbook-Gonvick as well as Red Falls and as Leo Schmitz (class of 1960) taught in Clarissa, MN until he retired. Here is a little bit about each. (Of course, Mr. Philion didn’t want to toot his own horn, but as you will see below, he didn’t have to.) I am sure there are other math teachers from here, but this is who I have come up with from others. Oh, and if any math teacher wants to come back to teach at their alma mater, we have an opening in the upcoming school year!
